Brain Training & Memory Boost: The "Glass, Shell, Bowl, Jar" Rhythm Game
A Fun Musical Challenge for Seniors
The Elderly Development Team at Ramathibodi Hospital invites all seniors and families to join a special memory-boosting activity. Led by Khun Pui (Duangkamol Saiduang), our Music Therapist, this session is designed to test and refresh your memory skills.
This activity uses music and hand gestures to stimulate the brain—a routine our team uses regularly during our monthly meetups to keep our seniors' minds active and sharp.
The 5 Key Hand Gestures
To make it easy to follow, there are 5 specific moves you need to memorize, corresponding to the lyrics of the song:
Glass (Kaew): Turn both palms up (like holding a glass).
Shell (Kala): Turn both palms down (like covering a coconut shell).
Bowl (Khan): Shape your hands into a small circle.
Jar (Ong): Shape your hands into a big circle.
Blow the Balloon (Pao Look Pong): Move your hands outward, pretending to blow up a balloon.
How to Play the Game
In our demonstration video, we will guide you through 2 rounds to test your brain's coordination:
The Slow Round: Focus on accuracy. Make sure your hand shapes match the lyrics perfectly.
The Fast Round: This is the challenge! We speed up the tempo to test your brain's reaction time.
Share Your Progress!
Give this brain workout a try! It’s fun and beneficial.
We have a challenge for you: Please record a video of yourself (or your parents) performing the song—one time Slow and one time Fast—and send it back to our team. We would love to see how sharp your memory is!
